The 72 Hour Hail Storm Response Playbook for Roofers

A qualifying hail event hits your metro on Tuesday night. By Friday, three storm chasers are already door knocking. By the following Monday, insurance adjusters are booked out three weeks. The roofers who make money on storm season are not the ones with the biggest crews, they are the ones with the fastest first 72 hours.

Hour 0 to 24: capture the map

• Pull NOAA storm reports and hail swath maps within 6 hours. Overlay onto your zip code list.
• Identify the 3 to 5 hardest hit zip clusters. Ignore the rest for now.
• Load the target zips into your dialer and email tool. Kill everything else on the schedule.

Hour 24 to 48: outbound blitz

• Cold call the target zips with a storm specific script: "We just pulled the hail map for . Your neighborhood took ", followed by an offer of a free inspection.
• Text and email in parallel with a photo of the local hail map. Multi channel beats single channel by 4x on storm response.
• Book inspections 48 to 96 hours out. Not further. Homeowners forget urgency past a week.

Hour 48 to 72: adjuster and PM outreach

• Cold call local independent adjusters and adjuster firms. Offer to be their preferred inspection partner for the storm cycle.
• Call every property manager and facility director on your list with commercial buildings in the swath. Commercial claims are 5 to 20x the residential ticket.
• Line up a supplement writer if you do not have one in house. Storm cycles live and die on supplement quality.

Day 3 to 30: follow up wins

60 percent of storm restoration jobs close on touch 2 or 3, not touch 1. Set a follow up cadence: day 3 text, day 7 call, day 14 email, day 21 call. Roofers who quit after touch 1 leave 40 percent of the storm revenue on the table.
